Bikram Kicked My Butt!

I went to Bikram On Thursday for the first time ever, it was a beginners class, but SUPER hard. To make a long, embarrassing story short, I lasted 45 minutes of the 90 minute class. I was feeling very hot (obviously) and nauseous. I had to go outside after I left the studio to get some cool air...and then it happened..I vomited :( It was awful. I was super shaky afterwards and just could not seem to cool down. So I think I will leave the Bikram to people who are a little more experienced than me at yoga :) I did however, find another yoga class in the same studio that caters more to a beginner like me :) I'm going to try out the class on Monday. I just wish I was more flexible, I have absolutely no flexibility at all :(

Did a huge grocery haul at Whole Foods this morning because I was out of everything. I got a ton of organic fruits and veggies, some veggie burgers, which I haven't had in ages, and lotsa Lara bars and some Almond Butter :) I slao got a bottle of Spirulina and got this to try out

no worries about your bikram experience! plenty of people i knowa ctually fainted at their first class. sometimes instructors will tell people that if they start to feel ill to just lie down on their mats but try not to leave the room, and your body will adjust. but if it's just not your thang, it's all good! #5 swimming: me too!

you have really put me off bikram yoga now, but as long as you are being so positive about it and just going on to do a easier class i say good on you, never beat yourself up over something like this, if its not meant to be then whatever you have plenty of other possibilities around for you.

Thanks for tagging me. i do love my awards :)

Bikram yoga is pretty much the most intense form of exercise you can do in terms of putting external strain on your body: with running or swimming, it's something that we were designed to do in terms of our natural physiology, something that our ancestors would have done. Being in a scorching room while twisting your body further than it would go otherwise is enough to make anyone sick! You shouldn't feel upset with yourself at all. Personally, I've never been sure that Bikram is either as safe or as beneficial as regular yoga anyway: ashtanga can be challenging too.

That protein powder looks very interesting...I think the caffeine would make sure I didn't sleep for at least a week afterwards ;)

Thanks so much for the award :) I'll feature it on my new blog, scarecrowsinshadows.wordpress.com (I'm only posting the address so you didn't think I'd forgotten!)

Have a lovely Sunday.

I'm SO sorry to hear about your experience with Bikram, but I'm also so glad to hear that you're taking such a positive attitude on the experience. Definitely don't give up or write Bikram off right away!!! Give it some time, work a little more on your practice, and maybe try a few other studios. It might be that it's just not the yoga for you, but definitely give it another shot at some point. You're just starting on your yoga path, and you have your entire life to experiment and find what truly hits home for you!

Awww, thank you SO much for this award sweetie!!! Right back at you!!!

xxoo
